Two suspected armed robbers have been on Saturday arrested by males of the Ogun State police command after a gun duel.
Police stated the suspects, one 30-year-old Solomon Aghofure from Delta State and 37-year-old Emmanuel Mathew from Abia, have been nabbed “whereas working at Sagamu interchange space of Lagos-Ibadan expressway” round 1:30am.
A press release from the Ogun State police spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspects and their gang had already positioned themselves on the interchange, able to assault commuters plying the street.
In keeping with Oyeyemi, the gang had opened hearth on the passing patrol group led by the world DPO, CSP Okiki Agunbiade.
The group was stated to have engaged the theft gang in a shoot-out, “on the finish of which certainly one of them sustained gunshot accidents and was subsequently apprehended.”
DALY POST learnt that different members of the gang had escaped into the bush, forsaking their operational automobile.
“The bush was totally combed from the place the opposite suspect was additionally arrested.

“On interrogation, the suspects knowledgeable the police that they have been 5 in quantity of their gang, they gave the names of others as Uche (aka 2 million), Arinze and Uzor.
It was revealed that the three escaped suspects are ex-convicts and had served jail phrases in Okitipupa and Sagamu.
“It was after their jail time period that they shaped the gang and recruited them,” Oyeyemi stated.
In the meantime, the state Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, has ordered the switch of the suspects to the state CIID, including that fleeing members of the gang be hunted down.
