Hit-and-run driver kills pedestrian in Anambra

An unidentified driver on Wednesday afternoon killed a person at Okija junction in Ihiala Native Authorities Space of Anambra whereas crossing highway.

Mr. Andrew Kumapayi, Sector Commander of the Federal Highway Security Corps (FRSC) in Anambra, confirmed the incident to the Information Company of Nigeria (NAN) in Awka.

“An unidentified driver of an unknown car knocked down a yet-to-be-identified male grownup and sped off. It was a case of hit and run.

“FRSC rescue staff from Ihiala Command rushed the sufferer to Osungwu Hospital, the place he was confirmed lifeless by the physician on responsibility and his physique deposited on the mortuary,” he mentioned.

Based on the commander, an eyewitness who was on the scene, mentioned that the pedestrian was knocked down by the dashing driver whereas crossing the highway.

Mr Andrew Kumapayi, whereas warning motorists in opposition to velocity restrict violation, suggested pedestrians to be watchful when crossing or strolling alongside the highway to keep away from such incident.
