Imo: 20 IPOB members arrested over death of civilians, soldiers in Orlu

Nigerian troops have nabbed 20 members of the Indigenous Individuals of Biafra (IPOB) over the homicide of troopers and civilians in Orlu, Imo State.

The joint operation concerned the Military, Air Drive and the Police.

A navy intelligence officer informed PRNigeria that the IPOB militia ambushed and killed the troopers on the escort of the Director Civil Affairs, Brigadier Basic H. E. Nzan.

Nzan and his workforce have been on inspection of the Civil-Navy Undertaking at Nkwerre.

The attackers took away weapons and a car belonging to the troops.

The supply stated because the starting of 2021, IPOB actions and demand for secession have adversely affected the safety state of affairs within the East.

“The actions of the weather have led to a rise in armed theft, automotive snatching, kidnapping, rape, assaults on civilians, police and navy personnel on checkpoints and escort responsibility.

“Recall that troops of 34 Brigade, with the Imo State Police Command, on January 22, 2021, carried out raids in Okporo/Ezenta and Akata axis of Orlu Native Authorities Space to get better the corpse of a police officer killed by IPOB.

“Through the raids, one IPOB member was killed and a car (SUV) was recovered. Numerous IPOB coaching camps have been additionally found and destroyed.”

Final Wednesday, an operation was carried out in a forest near Lilu village in Ihiala Basic Space of Anambra State by mixed troops of the Military, Air Drive and the Police.

Some IPOB camps have been destroyed, whereas its militia was suspected to have escaped with their lifeless colleagues and ranging levels of gunshot wounds.

Objects and gear recovered included AK-47 rifles, locally-made pistols, Dane weapons, ammunition, IPOB flags, water pumping machine, navy fragmental jackets, cell handsets, amongst others.

The suspects arrested and objects recovered have been handed over to the Police headquarters in Owerri.

Barely two weeks in the past, safety forces stormed a retailer linked to IPOB in Ebonyi State. A number of arms and ammunition have been discovered.
