Legislative aides on Wednesday protested the non-payment of twenty-two months arrears by the administration of the Nationwide Meeting.
Throughout the protest, the aides chanted that the Nationwide Meeting has didn’t pay the arrears regardless of a promise by the Speaker of the Home of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila that it is going to be resolved.
Two weeks in the past, the aides staged a protest on the foyer of the Nationwide Meeting, and the Speaker addressed them with the promise to make sure immediate fee of the cash.
In response to Zebis Prince who spoke with journalists, the aides are again as a result of lack of ability of the Speaker to resolve the problem.
He alleged that the cash for the fee of the allowances was launched in 2019.
“We’ve got it on good authority that these wage arrears had been duly appropriated and launched on first-line cost.
“Sadly, what the administration of the Nationwide Meeting is saying is that this cash isn’t any extra there. What occurred to the cash that was launched for this objective? It’s both this cash has been embezzled or misappropriated.”
The aides are accusing the Clerk of the Nationwide Meeting, Olatunji Ojo of refusing to pay the allowances.
