The newly appointed Nigerian ambassador to Mexico, Adejare Bello, on Friday, assaulted a journalist in Osogbo, the state capital of Osun State.
Bello, a two-term former speaker of the Osun State meeting, at present representing Nigeria as an Ambassador, publicly attacked Adeniyi Akinromade, a reporter of the Osun State Broadcasting Company whereas he was rendering social service throughout visitors gridlock.
DAILY POST experiences that there was gridlock on Friday morning at Oke-Fia in Osogbo and the involved journalist, determined to assist direct autos away from the hold-up, to make sure the free move of visitors on the jammed routes.
Nevertheless, Bello who was caught in the identical visitors gridlock on the time, alongside his safety personnel alighted from his car and started to assault the journalist.
In a chat with DAILY POST correspondent, Akinromade narrated, “I used to be on my strategy to Oke-Fia after I noticed gridlock and other people shunting. I took it upon myself to manage some defiant motorists who have been making an attempt to govern their methods towards visitors guidelines.
“Whereas I used to be doing out this, Bello was passing via the highway and he felt I used to be obstructing his motion. He alighted from his car with annoyance in entrance of the Nigeria Police Microfinance financial institution alongside the axis.
“Regardless of telling him that I’m a journalist and that I used to be solely finishing up social service, he was slapping me alongside officers connected to him. I used to be brutalised and embarrassed publicly”, he mentioned.
When contacted, Bello didn’t deny assaulting the journalist. “I used to be the one one who slapped him. My cops weren’t concerned”.
“Inform him (the journalist) to report back to the police. He drove towards visitors and I slapped him. I used to be the one one who slapped him and I’m not denying that”, he mentioned earlier than dropping the decision.
