Niger Assembly to probe state government over N2.8b expenditure outside 2020 Appropriation

Niger State Home of Meeting is about to begin investigations into the N2.8bn, allegedly expended by the state authorities outdoors the 2020 Appropriation regulation.

That is sequel to a movement of pressing public significance on the plenary raised by a member representing Bosso constituency, Hon. Malik Madaki Bosso, alleging that three ministries, Works, Sports activities and Justice spent over N2.8 billion outdoors the finances.

He defined that the Ministry for Works expended N2b, Sports activities, N360m and Justice N450m, respectively.

In response to him, “all these large sums of cash had been spent out of the general public funds of the state unconstitutionally and unlawfully, as they weren’t approved by the Home of Meeting”

Bosso insisted that if the monies had been spent unconstitutionally, the state authorities has an choice to deliver a Supplementary Appropriation Invoice however refused to take action.

The lawmaker urged the home to ask related officers to clarify these “unconstitutional acts and why constitutional actions shouldn’t be taken towards the federal government”.

Adopting his prayers, the lawmakers resolved that Commissioners of Finance, Finances and Planning, Sports activities, Works and Justice be invited to the Home on Wednesday subsequent week to provide proof on the matter.
