Oyo LG election: PDP members protest alleged imposition of candidates

Some members of the Peoples Democratic Social gathering (PDP) in Oyo State have protested the alleged imposition of candidates forward of the native authorities election within the state.

The protesting members stormed Oyo State Secretariat in Agodi Ibadan to kick in opposition to the imposition of candidates on them.

Among the members from Oyo East Native Authorities took the protest to the Oyo State Governor’s Workplace, Agodi Secretariat, Ibadan on Friday.

The protesters are kicking in opposition to the alleged imposition of candidates for the deliberate native authorities election slated for Could.

They carried placards, chanting solidarity songs to precise their displeasures.

The protesters alleged that leaders of the occasion have been planning to impose some ‘unpopular candidates’ who’ve already served as caretaker Chairmen.

The protesters insisted on the occasion conducting a major election to provide all candidates a degree taking part in floor.

Among the inscriptions on their placards learn “Oyo East LG says no to imposition”, “Oyo East PDP needs to pry election please”, “LG Main election save us from imposition in Oyo East LG Council”, “We would like a free and truthful major election. We would like free, truthful major election”.

Others learn “Oyo state PDP elders and stakeholders flashback, keep in mind what killed PDP. They don’t want the plenty nicely”, “We are saying no to the imposition of candidate”, “Don’t open the door for mass defection forward of 2023 Oyo East native authorities PDP warns” and “Imposition kills the occasion, don’t use it” amongst others.

Publicity Secretary of PDP, Engineer Akeem Olatunji when contacted denied the allegations, claiming there was nothing like an imposition.

He stated he and the chairman of the occasion had addressed the protesters.

Olatunji stated, “There may be nothing like that. The occasion chairman addressed them and I additionally addressed them. Nearly, everyone was glad. What we did is to attraction to the aspirants to see themselves as one household.

“No one is forcing anybody on anyone.”
