Police sanctions DPO Onipanu, officers for detaining man who recorded assault

The Commissioner of Police in Lagos, Hakeem Odumosu, has eliminated CSP Francis Ani, the Divisional Police Officer, Onipanu, from his submit.

Ani and a few of the division’s officers had been sanctioned for the harassment and unlawful detention of Tunde Abass and Kabir Mohammed.

Abass was locked up for recording the harassment of Mohammed on the Onipanu space on Friday, March 19 at about 5pm.

Abbas tried to intervene as officers assaulted the civilian. As a punishment for his effrontery, the staff arrested him and Mohammed.

Muyiwa Adejobi, Lagos command spokesman, stated the CP perused the report of a probe into the incident and located them culpable of human rights violation.

Odumosu condemned the act of unprofessionalism, extreme use of energy and guaranteed that extortion and lawlessness wouldn’t be tolerated.
