Protest rocked Obafemi Awolowo College (OAU), Ile-Ife, on Wednesday, as members of the Senior Workers Affiliation of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and Non-Educational Workers Union (NASU), of the establishment, kicked in opposition to non-payment of their allowances.
The members of the unions shut down the principle gate and different entrances of the establishment round 10 a.m., chanting anti-management songs.
The protesters later shut different gates resulting in the college earlier than barricading the workers quarters.
The NASU Chairman, Comrade Wole Adewumi, talking with journalists, famous that the administration of OAU was but to disburse the fund launched by the Federal Authorities to establishments within the Southwest.
However reacting, the Public Relations Officer of the establishment, Abiodun Olarewaju, stated the battle shouldn’t be in opposition to the college administration, describing the motion of shutting college gates as unlucky.
“It’s unlucky that the gates resulting in the campus have been closed.
