Songezo Mjongile, a former ANC provincial secretary within the Western Cape has died. He suffered from colon most cancers, which took his life at present.
The social gathering stated Mjongile, who was fondly referred as “Madiba” died at dwelling, on Thursday in Morningside, Johannesburg.
“Across the 29 August 2020, the ANC learnt that comrade Songezo had been recognized with colon most cancers in April 2020 and amongst his final needs was to contribute to the renewal of the ANC and the success of the nationwide democratic revolution,” ANC spokesperson Pule Mabe stated in a press release.
“This was a mirrored image of the dedication comrade Songezo needed to the ANC, the mass democratic motion constructions and to the broader society of SA,” he added.
Nonetheless, Mjongile took to his social media accounts to declare his battle with most cancers.
He wrote thus:
“To all my buddies and comrades, I found in April that I undergo from colon most cancers. Chemotherapy therapy didn’t work, as a substitute unwanted effects have led to 2 incidents of kidney failure and [a] gentle coronary heart assault. I survived with the grace of God. I’m leaving [sic] my second lease of life and pray to God to provide me energy to boost my kids and household.”
“My final want for all my sins. I wanna contribute to renewal of the ANC and success of the NDR [sic],” he stated.
Mabe talked about Mjongile’s contribution to politics in his journey thus far.
“He turned an activist within the Congress of South African College students (Cosas) and was later elected its president. He continued his lifetime of activism within the ranks of the African Nationwide Congress Youth League (ANCYL), rising by way of the ranks and elected to the nationwide government and nationwide working committees of the ANCYL,” stated Mabe.
“Comrade Songezo went on to be elected because the provincial treasurer and later provincial secretary of the ANC within the Western Cape,” he added.
