Three remanded for alleged human trafficking in Benue

A Chief Magistrates’ Courtroom in Makurdi on Wednesday ordered that three males, who allegedly trafficked a 20-year-old girl to Côte d’Ivoire, be remanded in a correctional centre.

The police charged Terfa Orka, Demegba Sesughter and Aondoakura Gber all of Mkaa in Gboko Native Authorities Space of Benue with prison conspiracy, trafficking in ladies and defending of an offender, punishable underneath Sections 97, 282 and 169 of the Penal Code Legal guidelines of Benue, 2004.

Nonetheless, the Chief Justice of the Peace, Mr Vincent Kor didn’t take the plea of the suspects for need in jurisdiction over the matter.

Kor ordered the police to return the case file to the Workplace of the Benue Director of Public Prosecutions for authorized recommendation.

He adjourned the matter till April 15, 2021, for additional point out.

Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Friday Kanshio informed the courtroom that Jonathan Iortyom reported the matter on the ‘B’ Division Police Station, Gbajimba on Jan 30, 2021.

Iortyom informed the police that on Dec 16, 2020, Orka and Sesughter took his 20-year outdated daughter to at least one Timothy Inienge, who in flip took the lady to Côte d’Ivoire for prostitution.

The prosecution mentioned that Gber was arrested for hiding and aiding Inienge, who’s now at giant, to flee earlier than arrest.
